Our Subsistence

Greetings to all our brothers and sisters in Christ in the most precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a distinct honor for me to present you a panoramic view of our geography, our ministry and our subsistence.

Indian society has been broadly divided into tribal, rural and urban societies on the basis of their geographical surroundings and socio-cultural characteristics. Since its inception, VOICE Ministries, in particular, is engaged in ministering to tribal people. Tribes live in relative isolation marked with the distinct culture, language and religion.

Our VOICE ministries is headquartered in ‘Mulakalapally’ mandal (A mandal is an area of land with a city or town that serves as it’s administrative center, with possible additional towns, and usually a number of villages) which includes 9 villages in it. Mulakalapally mandal is in ‘ Bhadradri Kothagudem ’ district which is in the eastern region in the Indian state of Telangana.

As much as 90% of the population in this village belt are tribes of different tribal communities namely Koya, Lambadi, Nayakapu, Guttikoya, Erukala etc. In remote, isolated Mulakalapally, tribal life continues to strive. Surrounded by mountains, dense forests and large amounts of vegetation, more than 15 different tribes call the area home, which makes for backward, poor and politically unstable communities. Their main occupation has always been gathering forest produce. Most of them were the woodsman and some were hunters and some were honey gatherers. They used to worship trees, rocks, snakes, animals and believe in ancestor worship as well as sorcery. These villages are picturesque villages consisting of huts with thatched roofs and mud-plastered walls.

In the early days of my conversion, Lord laid a heavy burden on my heart to proclaim His Gospel to these innocent tribal people. When I took a glimpse of the unreached, perishing tribal souls, I can say these precious words along with Scottish Missionary, Dr. David Livingstone - “The haunting specter of the smoke of a thousand villages in the morning sun has burned within my heart”. Turning down all my vocations and earthly luxuries, I along with my wife, ‘Suvartha’ traveled down all the way to ‘Mulakalapally’ as itinerant evangelists in 1994. Amidst unbearable hardships, sleepless nights and unexplainable critical financial conditions, we believed in the Lord’s promise and through them, all the words of God came to me “Lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world .” I and my wife along with some of the passionate brethren whom our Lord caught and converted them with His life-changing Gospel from deadly and tortuous paganism resolved to reach the unreached people of this tribal belt with the “Good news”. We traveled on uneven, narrow and almost impassable roads on bicycles for hundreds of kilometers and we literally saw the unimaginative transformative power of the Word of God in the lives of men from the chains of sin and scorching paganism. There are many instances in our open-air meetings, when an invitation was given, hundreds of people coming forward to accept Christ as their Savior and was almost 95 % response from the crowd gathered especially from young men, preparing to go into ministry. There can be no higher enjoyment found in this world that is found in pulling souls out of the fire and bringing them to Christ. With Lord’s help, we established 11 congregations, 8 among tribal people and 3 among Hindu people.

Despite their exceedingly poor economic status – they were in “deep poverty,” the people dwelling in this tribal belt were liberal in their giving. They were poor, common people with a heart, a big heart that was committed to the Lord Jesus and His Cause above all else. So great was their desire to serve Christ that they would not allow their economic situation to keep them from being involved in the Lord's work. This sacrificial and selfless manner of these people is because they completely devoted themselves to their master in the first place. Before giving their money to the Lord’s work, they first gave themselves to the Lord. With these people, their heart went first and their generous contribution is following.

I am really thrilled and grateful to the Lord for giving me this awesome opportunity to share with you these heartfelt words. Please remember our VOICE Ministries in your daily prayers. May God richly bless you. Thank you once again.
